The 1984 Dallas Grand Prix was run on a temporary circuit in the Texas State Fairgrounds. In the blistering 100℉ heat the track surface began deteriorating as the powerful F1 Turbo cars began practice. Ice was added to cool down and speed up the curing of the provisional repairs.
